Biomaster antimicrobial protection for polymers

Producer: Addmaster
Polymer type Additives

Biomaster antimicrobial technology anticipates the growing demand for cleaner surfaces and more hygienic environments by guaranteeing fast, effective and long-lasting protection against harmful microbes.

Biomaster finds application in any environment where people share surfaces including hospitals, care homes, schools, gyms and offices. It is also used extensively in the water industry, food industry, packaging and in the food service industry to reduce the risk of surface contamination from food-borne microbes.

It is also used extensively in reusable plastics such as shopping bags, water bottles, coffee cups, food storage containers and also personal care and beauty products.

General info

Biomaster is effective against most types of harmful bacteria.

In typical tests, polymers treated with Biomaster reduced the microbial load by over 99% achieving ISO 22196:2011.

Unique formulations can be blended to suit any application to reduce microbial contamination from bacteria, moulds and fungi.

Biomaster inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria by safely releasing silver ions on demand, preventing bacteria from multiplying.

Biomaster is easily added to current manufacturing processes and is effective for the lifetime of any product to which it is added, while it:

  • does not affect the structural and physical qualities of the polymer
  • is available in masterbatches and compounds
  • is effective at low addition rates
  • can be used in clear grades and colours

All testing and certifications of antimicrobial properties are provided by a leading independent laboratory.

Biomaster is suitable for almost all plastic and polymer materials, standard thermoplastics, engineering plastics and high-performance plastics including:

  • Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS),
  • Polyamide (PA)
  • Polycarbonate (PC)
  • Acrylics (PMMA)
  • Acetals (POM)
  • Biopolymers (e.g. PLA)
  • Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA),
  • Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP) and (TPE)
  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
  • Polystyrene (PS)
  • Polyetheretherketone (PEEK),
  • Polyurethane (PU)
  • Silicones
